Specialty Themes:

Picture Perfect: Portrait Masterpieces

Inspired by a diverse selection of painted portraits, this program will combine games and hands-on activities to explore some of the formal qualities of art.  With all the trappings of an artist's portrait studio at their disposal (including costumes and props), each kid will create a self-portrait.

Walk Like an Egyptian

Using Egyptian paintings and sculptures as our guide, we will be inspired to get-up and bring the past to life.  We will walk like Egyptians, translate hieroglyphs, and create our own Egyptian-style artifacts.

Art, Nature, Sculpture

Stacking rocks, weaving leaves, and watching the effects of the wind - nature will be our inspiration as we learn about art made from natural materials. A nature walk (weather permitting) will accompany hands-on activities and pictures of Andy Goldsworthy's sculpture. Each kid will create several original works of art, including an ephemeral sculpture captured by digital photography.
